I've bought many items from Newegg before, but my last shipment is the 2nd time I've gotten a full array of components to build a system. I was very excited to open the large shipping box from their Tennessee distribution center, but I was equally shocked to find how little effort they have put in protecting my purchase.
There was literally a single sheet of butcher paper crinkled and rolled up to fill the open volume. Absolutely no cushion of what so ever underneath the individual component boxes. The crinkled butcher paper only filled out 25% of the open volume, meaning the components were free to move and shift around in the rest of the 75% open space.
At this point, I'm relying on the packaging engineer of the individual components to have done their homework, as Newegg added absolutely nothing to protect the shipment.
I've yet to put the system together because of my schedule, but I'm already mentally readying myself for some RMAs.
It was going to be an exciting build, but it's starting out with a bad feeling.
*I don't know where to place this thread, so please move this where ever it applies. However, I do think the AT members should be aware of Newegg's current packing practice, or lack there of.
