Sounds like the Vatican took a cue from Canada. Good, I guess?

I wanted the gay Filipino guy, just to piss off the CCP. I guess an American progressive who can call out Trump in several languages will work. If he wants to earn my respect he'll have to break with his predecessors regarding sexual abuse, for starters. Still, it's lookin good...

Homoiousia vs homoousia will be replaced with Cubs vs White Sox. Choose wisely.

I actually learned about this in the most Chicago way possible: on a tv at the hot dog place stuffing a Chicago dog into my face mere days after moving back.
So you moved from the horrific heat of Austin to the beautiful weather of San Diego to the horrific cold of Chicago? Are your moves like Windows releases where you get one shitty one then one good one then the next is shitty again?

Husband got a new and better job so time to go. At least mountain cedar isn’t trying to kill me here.

There are benefits though! San Diego has wonderful weather but the culture there is... bad (read: nearly nonexistent). Chicago has a great arts scene.

That being said I saw ice form on the INSIDE of a window there one winter so there's that, haha.

Single pane or double? My parents home had single pane forever. It was built in 1930, and I saw the same thing.

San Diego has many fine attributes but culture and to some extent food are not really among them. We were ending up in LA about once a month.

Haha yes, the food. Whenever I go back to San Diego my friends are like 'we need to go to restaurant X. It's the best!' It is often... not the best. One exception - Rob's Jalapenos up in North County has the best burrito I've ever eaten. Amazing.

That being said I don't want to shit on SD too much as it really is a great town in a lot of ways.

I think legally Italians have to start eating deep dish pizza now.

And call it pizza. It's time we bring our exiled brother in from the cold, dark realm of pies.

IDK in SD you're right there at the border so can go get way better Mexican food than you can get in the US. For instance I have never had a good plate of mole poblano in the US unless I cooked it myself, while in Mexico I have never had a plate of mole poblano that wasn't amazing. Though to be fair the recipe I use is Rick Bayless' so I imagine his restaurant Topolobampo in Chicago is one of the few places in the US where you can get a great plate of mole poblano. For some reason al pastor is always crap in the US too but cross a quarter mile into Tijuana and the al pastor being served on the street is unreal.

It’s funny…I love San Diego…maybe ad a result of doing boot camp at MCRD San Diego…then MCT at Pendleton…we used to go to San Diego just to have Rubio’s fish tacos…then Ralph “sold out” and went corporate…and quality went to shit.
When our son was stationed at MCAS Miramar, we’d drive down on a 3 day weekend…eat at a variety of places…and always hit Rubio’s at least once.
Are there “better” fish tacos? Sure…but Rubio’s was cheap and excellent back in the day.

George's in La Jolla is my personal favorite.

Best Mole I ever had was in this little back street Taco shack in downtown Santa Ana called "America". The kind of place where no one speaks English, all the customers are day laborers, and the kid running the cash register must have been 12.

Anyhow I ask in my broken ass Spanish if they have any mole dishes and the kid is like "No, no mole" and then the chef/cook who must have been the kids dad or uncle or something comes out the back and points at me and says "Mole? Negro, Rojo, o Poblano?"

And then the kid gets mad at the older guy and there is this rapid fire exchange of Spanish that i barely got, but the vibe of it was "We don't have mole on the menu" "Kid I'm a chef and I have dreams I don't just want to make Tacos forever, let me cook"

So anyway I ask for mole negro cause that's some good shit and the older guy claps his hands and thanks God or something and then goes in the back and the kid is looking at me pissed as hell for some reason. Charges me for a basic plate of tacos which was like $5 back in ye old times.

Chef guy brings the mole plate to my table personally and in his broken ass English says something like "the best, THE BEST" and I took a bite and it really was some of the best Mole I've ever had. Just a hint of sweet, richly spiced, cooked to perfection. This guy really was done making tacos for sure. Hope he was able to get his talent out there, haven't been to that shop in 20 years, don't even know if it exists anymore.

Anyhow.... What topic is this?!
