This article is totally insane. They say that she suffered an avalanche of threats and bullying. I can't find any of the original tweets on her twitter account, but here's the entirety of the ones I've seen mentioned in any article - and almost certainly the only ones Jezebel has seen or they'd be citing more:
"Wow your a thot"
"Nothing brings a school together like a porn star who graduated last year. I guess you could say news spreads fast here at Stillwater hahah."
"Does her dad know?"
Yeah that's some avalanche of threats and bullying all right. The worst thing done there was someone called her a whore, which isn't that far removed given she did have sex in exchange for money. The other two aren't especially critical, mild ribbing at best and she responded to all of it in stride. Talk about blown way out of proportion. If Alyssa didn't kill herself I'm sure no one would have batted an eye at this.
In most circumstances, when someone commits suicide the brunt of the responsibility should lay on them. I agree that cyber-bullying and trolling can be very cruel and there's a limit to what should be tolerated, but we can't just blindly blame other people any time a person kills him or herself.
Just think of the suicide fantasies this is enabling. Think of how much more willing someone might be to pull the trigger if they know the media will ostracize their enemies over it.
