I start my bittorrent client up (Azureus) and its set to port 6999, which is configured to port forward on my D-Link 524 C router. It works fine for a while getting speeds of almost 70 kb/s but then a short while later it just stops and says connection errors and other things like that, I'm wondering why it does that?

Two possibilities:
You haven't opened any other ports, you have to open:6881-6999 tcp and udp in order to accept more connections, this DOES seem like a security hazard but it works great for me.
Chances are that you have intrusion detection or something of the sort enabled in either your hardware firewall on the router or maybe a software firewall in windows that when you receive connections from peers feel that you are under attack. Try disabling both and that should solve your problem.

Hmmmm, no I don't have any firewalls on anything enabled, im not really concerned about people hacking into my computer.

What if i put it in the DMZ would this problem possibly stop?

I might have had the ports being messed up because i had WoW configured for ports 6881-6999 and Azureas configured for those port, but i just made it into one port forward so we will see if that helps solve the problem.

Hmmmm no Wow and Azureas being listen under Vitual Apps or w.e had no impact on the ports, they still randomly turn off. I wonder what else it could be, i have no firewalls or anything ilke that.

Azureus gives good diag info. What does it claim is the problem and what does it say in its help file? When I opened my ports it worked fine for me.
