man some nice gear, but you guys need to spend some on getting a decent room. I am willing to bet that top end gear sounds worse than junk bin items in those room setups.

Really? It would play 1 second and stop here. Stupid connection and youtube is acting up again! We had the subs turned up and dust was staying airborne in the wavefronts. I actually got a headache from that. I need a SPL meter that goes higher than 140dB too.

Hearing protection really isn't the issue with lower frequencies. One has to worry about concussions from their brain banging into their skull.
Back in May I killed a workstation when a bass hit ripped the PCI-E cards right out of the slots. Systems don't like that much.
The nice thing is I don't have to worry about building integrity - a steel ship is very strong. Things will rattle and I used to pop lights all the time but now the bulbs are clipped down. Sometimes a tube will snap from vibration though.

Hehe thanks for the comments. My living room is long and thin, the TV is in one half and the PC & table is in the other half (where I stood to take the picture). My PC is connected with DMI & digital coax cables to the TV and decoder/receiver.... that is where I play all the content from.
I live in Tokyo, so you could say it is an expensive city.
I will consider upgrading the sound sometime I guess - there isn't too much "warmth" from those Sony speakers, the sound is there and clear but it doesn't seem to fill the space as I hoped it would.... maybe I just need to shed my inhibitions and crank the volume up a bit
As for that picture - good point - it was going to hang where the TV is.... until I decided to buy and buy a TV!
My next purchase is the final step in this system - a new (80 USD lol) CPU on my PC so I can play 1080p without the occassional stutters I see at the moment in fast moving content...

It's 3 years (well 2 years 11 months) since I built the PC, definitely time to upgrade
Just ordered a Athlon 64 X2 3800+ DualCore which should be a nice speed boost, bargain for about 70 USD!
I think I meant 1.8 GHz ;-)

Nice!
Now that you have had more time with the system as it is arranged, have you felt that the RC25 center channel doesn't quite cut it compared to the heresy II? Or does it work out OK?
