And ended like this (though now in the basement and that room has been turned into a sitting room):

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

What is a theater without a popcorn machine?

Still have a few touch ups to do, some window treatments to add, and some first reflection sound absorbtion panels to build, but it is almost done.

Television: Panasonic TC-55VT50
Receiver: Denon AVR 3802
Main speakers: Swan Diva 6.2
Center: JBL Studio Series S-Center
Surround: JBL Northridge Series N24

This is a work in progress. I just purchased the tv last week. The 3802 does not have HDMI inputs/output. However, I don't plan on upgrading any time soon as I just spent a lot on the tv. Maybe next year. I don't have a subwoofer as I live in an apartment. Those Swan's are as obnoxious as it is.

Wow there are a lot of really cool setups here guys! You can check mine out right here on my movie theater bedroom page.

And yeah I know, I put it in my bedroom, but it's what I wanted, I get a lot of use out of it now. Sometimes I take the bed out and have rockband parties with cool strobe lights that go with the music. I will post pics of that when I have that setup again!

since i'm finally finished with all of the hardware and i just cleaned up my basement, i figured i'd snap a few pics and post em in here.

here are the components:

avr - denon 4311ci
projector - panasonic ae8000
amp - europower ep4000 (used only to power the subs)
screen - 120" elite screen sable frame
mains - jtr triple 12's
surrounds - jtr triple 8's
subs - jtr captivator 2400's
chairs - berkline 12000 powered

the empty space in the rack is where i bring the cable box down since i don't have a dedicated one yet. i don't really plan on getting one until football season starts or possibly nhl playoffs which is pretty soon. i just don't watch tv down there much at all.

i'm also getting a larger stand for my games/movies because that one is old and tiny, and i plan to just set it out in the room somewhere behind the seating area near the closet.

Muy bien! Your surround speaker solution turned out fine.

Time to accessorize; pool table, curtains/blinds, room treatments, etc. Mebbe a faux pole for that lally column...?

thanks for the compliments.

the plan is to eventually do more stuff down there like a bar. i wanted a pool table initially but it will take up a lot of that floor space so i'm not 100% convinced about that. if i ever get around to it i will turn my ki2 cabinet into a mame cabinet and put it down there in the corner. but that thing would be a bitch to get down the stairs.

how much are the JTRs if you don't mind me asking? I need to outfit my main theater room with nice speakers, but I think they have too much depth to be behind my screen.

Not bad, I'd do the 800 per speaker. My room is a 15x15'ish. I am probably going with infinite baffle for subwoofer, not sure JTR can touch that setup if I put 2-3K into it.

prob not, Inf Baf is pretty much king when done correctly, but the price would depend on what subs you use for it. many use the LMS-U or the XXX-18 which are not cheap drivers.

JTRs cheapest option is the Single 8 which is 900 not 800 (my bad)
im not sure people use them for mains, someone prod does, mostly used as rears

tripple 8s at 1200 are where most would start

I see a lot of people recommend triple 8hts, I just think it's too big for my room, but I'll look. The seating is only 11-12 ft back from a 14ft wide screen - the speakers will have to go behind the screen. That will bring the screen image too close to seating. I have thought for a while on if I can reverse the room I'm building, to get enough room for speakers behind the screen. I think my projector throw will be off then (right now it's 17-20ft back), if I reverse the room I'll be at only 14-15ft and it will decrease the width.

I was going to use 4-8 Ficar IB318s, I don't know how to power them yet but I have a dedicated 20A breaker for that:

any suggestions on amps for those subs? I have not built IB before so no clue, I read they don't need as much power as typical subs though (300W per?).

Thanks,
ELmO

IB is quite different than a normal setup, as you already know. Honestly you dont need very much power going to each one and a pair of ep4ks would be more than enough. However the main selling point of IB is the ultra low frequencies, if cost was a factor I would say an ep4k but it extends power down to 10hz. If your shooting for <10hz your quite hard pressed to find something reasonably priced and reliable. A QSC RMX xxxx series go all the way down to 2-3hz and are a quality brand. http://www.qscaudio.com/products/amps/rmx/rmx.htm which can be bought at amazon.

The subs you linked will handle 550w each so at either 2 or 4 ohms (the LG Clones will not work with 2ohm if your willing to risk it). So plan accordingly, winisd the two with their max rated power or more likely their xmax and decide which you want and how much power to drive 4 subs.

If your serious about IB, http://ibsubwoofers.proboards.com/index.cgi is the place to go.

also heres a list of a bunch of amps and their performance http://www.avsforum.com/t/855865/measuring-amplifiers
