Geez, people, what's so hard about doing an Image > Image Size > Width: 700 in PS (or the equivalent in your imaging program of choice)? No freakin way I'm loading that thing on dialup... BTW, is that from the Canon 1Ds or Kodak Pro SLR/n?

low res

using the newest powershot pro1.

Thanks, that's much better.

BTW, how do you like your new Pro 1? I hear that the noise is bad at the highest ISO; does that affect your pics in real life?

Yeah, that's what's got me thinking... The lens doesn't beat Canon's real L glass for their SLRs, but it sure does beat the stuff that you could get in combination with a 10D for $2000 or under. So, if one doesn't plan to do anything that would need any special lenses (super-wides, super-teles, macros, or tilt/shift), then the Pro 1 would probably be a better choice. I would be more likely to get one if it weren't for my interest in ultra-high-magnification macro photography (a bellows is next on my list ).

because i want a good camera without paying extra for the len. I know SLR are pretty good but I can't really afford the lens. For example, the macro len I saw ran like $600 or something like that. But the powershot pro1 is a pretty good all around camera. I'm not that hardcore so the pro1 is fine with me.

To clear up any potential confusion, I wasn't the one who got the Pro 1, the guy I quoted was.

The Pro 1 comes with a better lens than the kit lens that's with the Rebel (though supposedly the D70 kit lens is a bit better). To get the same kind of lens in a DSLR, you have to pay a lot more for Canon's L glass or Nikon's equivalent, though you do get extra features like IS (VR) and better quality yet. Some people, however, don't want the weight of fast, high quality zooms, and would rather take the small camera with a fixed lens that they'll never need to change anyway. Of course, DSLRs do have other advantages, like very good low light capability (they beat film at high ISOs quite handily), and faster response times, but that kind of stuff doesn't matter as much to some people as it might to me.

Edit: he posted faster than I did and cleared it all up anyway.

Thanks. I can't justify paying for like $600 for the len but the camera only cost $900

good points, personally I had had it with P&S and Pseudo P7S digitals and needed one that acted like a film camera, so i got a D70 because I allready had a bnch of Nikon Lenses for my Film Camera (F100), Granted the lens investrment is a bit more mone but IMO worth it, Ill bet getting a 180mm Macro soon, which will run me 500-800$ depending on what one and who makes it, The Sigam and Tamron variants of the 105mm f/.2.8 and the 180mm f/2.8 macro lenses are on equal footing with the Nikon ones, and cost less, I would assume that they are on teh same level as the canon L lenses but knowing nothing about Canon lenses im not sure
