I believe the reason is simply this:

Most people are concerned about the average, over time performance of a product based on the stress put on it. I don't care that I hit 10fps once in a 30 minute span. I *do* care, however, that I averaged 55fps over that time, so I know that my video card is doing it's job sufficiently. Just my 2 cents.

Topic was about frame rates and benchmarks.

Atlantean,

Your RIG shows that you're running Win2k Pro. Setting the security on your files is a matter of applying security settings to the files/folders themselves and or restricting the access by creating a user account with limited access (basically making sure that a level less than Administrator is selected).

Apply individual security settings to a Folder by right-clicking that folder and selecting Properties, then Security and remove the "everyone" access. Depending on how the folder was created in the first place you might have to uncheck the box referenced "allow inheretible persmissions...".

There are other options and greater detail involved in a variety of areas regarding file security but if it's a simple thing of a family member not stumbling across, then create a user with limited access or set permissions on the folder itself or both.

Enter your search criteria into the built-in help files in Win2k Pro - they're pretty extensive about security - you just have to be specific about what you're trying to do.

Good Luck!

Regarding a k6-2 system for sale:

Here: here

That being said, this is the first thread I started:

Is there a program I can use under Linux to use my comp as an answering machne? something like Bitware for Windows?
here

My original user was lost in some database shuffle in the early 2000's. I was here back in 1999 already.

Stupid Compaq

08/19/01
I have an "old" compaq prosignia 320, and it has a ~6GB hard drive. There is a primary partition of ~2GB, and an ext. partition of ~4GB. The ext. partition claims to have no logical dos drive, but if i try to assigne one, it says it can't b/c one already exists!! I can't delete the ext. partition and make a new one b/c it says there is a logical dos drive, but when i try to delete the logical dos drive in the ext. partition, is says there isn't one! I already don't like compaq b/c of the way there name is all over EVERYTHING on there computers, but i've heard in the past of people having trouble formatting or running fdisk, now i see they were right. Any ideas? Thanks

heh. I remember the response about deleting a "non-DOS" partition, and that didn't work either. I don't remember what I did with that box. Good thread OP

Here's mine:

The dyno places a resistive force on the crank or wheels and measures the torque output. Then the horsepower is derived from:

torque x rpm/5252=HP

Upcoming Graphics Card Questions

"Alright, I know that none of the new cards are out yet, but I'm planning for the future. My current budget is the limit of my stupidity (read $500). I have a few questions:

1) When are the Matrox Parhelia-512, the 3DLabs/Creative P10, the ATI R300, and the NVIDIA NV30 due out?"

LOL!!!!
