Power on always continues memtest

So I finally put my parts together yesterday:

Biostar TA780 G M2+ MoBo
Athlon 64 X2 2400 MHz
G Skill F2-8500 1066 (8500) 2x2 gigs RAM

And it boos up fine. I went into the Bios to look over its current settings and was about to ask what clock setting I should set the memory to since the only options I see state: Dram timing mode DCT 0 memclock value 200 MHz (200, 266, 333, 400)

So it's currently set at 200 MHz, is that fine or should it be at a higher value ? The specs for the voltage also recommend 2.0v, but it's currently set at 1.95v.

ECC is set to off. Should I set it to on, and if so, which value should I use ? I think the options range from something like "good" to better, and super etc...

Lastly, upon exiting the bios after saving, it went into Memtest mode, and despite re-booting (hard and soft) it continues to do this, I can't stop it. I pretty much just want to see if Ubuntu is going to work on this thing and have the disc in the drive, but can't get it to start up. What to do ?

Check in your bios, some Bios versions have memtest built in. If that is set to on, it will load memtest instead of the OS.

I dont' mind it doing a memtest, but I just tried to skip it, and it won't let me ? From the bios I chose the options " test selection" > "skip current test"> "continue" which skips each of the 10 tests, but once it reaches the last it just starts over again ? I don't see an option to turn this off anywhere and it's getting rather annoying. Would this also happen if something was defective ?

ECC should be off.

Double memclock, so your G.Skill 1066 is basically 533 in BIOS. Therefore you should set memory to 400 in BIOS (unless you're overclocking) to make your memory run at 800MHz. Unless you lower latency below CAS 5, voltage can be the lowest BIOS allows.

Thanks Zap, I'll set it to 400 then. Why would it start at half though ? I thought it would auto detect and set it appropriately.
