Power shutoff issues

Once again I have problems with my PC just completely shutting down. It used to happen once in a while when gaming, then stopped, now is back. It happens whenever I play Call of Duty-United Offensive. I just played thru the original CoD game without any trouble. I also play HL2 and NFSU2 with no problems.

When it happens, the light on the power button stays on. But everything just completely shuts down.

I'm Prime95 stable for many many hours. I set MBM5 to keep a log every 5 seconds while playing the game-it shows my max core temp around 52-53c, lowest 12v@12.3, lowest 5v@4.94, lowest 3.3v 3.19. Tried Kasperski, no viruses. Tried making timing loose, to 3-4-4-8. Don't know what else to try. I have a Coolmax 400w Power supply that has been rock solid on all 3 rails, and my specs aren't such that I should need to upgrade the PSU. Any ideas?

I've tried going back to stock with the video card, tried loosening memory timings way down to 3-4-4-8, no luck. About to try and clock FSB down to 166 (stock) and see if that does anything. My temps never go higher than 52c under full load, case temps hit maybe 25c.

Sounds like a HSF problem to me. Although the temp is shown at 52C, it could easily be much higher on the processor. Try the XP-120

What you say doesnt make sense.

If it is a HSF problem he would have higher temps. It isnt a temp problem, especially when his system seems to be well cooled.

Project86, you should consider running memtest.

The XP-120 is not for socket A, only A64, so that's not an option. The SI-97 is thought of by most as one of the best Socket A HSF, if not THE best. I use AS5 on it, and although my Panaflo is no delta, it does push 45cfm or so. My temps are in line with several other people I have encountered on OCforums.com running similar setups.

I've tried memtest before, not with both the OCZ AND Kingmax installed, but on each seperately. It ran fine for a long time.

Does it only happen when playing CoD - United Offensive, and not any other time. If so, I'd say you're looking at a software, not hardware, problem.
