Power supply adapter question

I just got all my Conroe parts and I found out that my power supply connector is not compatible! This is making me angry! I've been waiting a long time for this, but there is always something holding me back.

The power supply I have has 20 pins, but the Gigabyte P965-S3 motherboard has only a place for a 24 pin one. Is there an adapter that can help me out? I don't want to buy another power supply. I already have a good 500W one.

If there isn't one. I notice that there were 2 types of 24 pin power supplys. 20+4 and 24 pin ones. It seems that like the 20+4 pin one would be more versatile, but will the performance suffer compared to the plain 24 pin one?

Please answer as soon as possible.

I asked the same question of my supplier and in front of me he plugged a 20 pin power supply cable into a 24-pin motherboard, leaving 4 pins on the motherboard vacant, and it worked fine. I don't know whether it's a great idea performance-wise. My guess would be that you're better off with a good 20-pin supply than a cheap 24-pin supply.

Link Depot's would be $8.74 with shipping and Thermaltake would be $12.95 with free shipping. Anyone know what that other cable that comes with Thermaltake does?
