Power Supply for older system

This seemed like te best forum for this question. I just resurrected and old system, spec below:

Celeron 466
Commate P2BXA motherboard
384 MB RAM
44X Generic CDROM
12X Creative DVDROM
8.4 GB WD Hard Drive
LeadTek GF2 Pro 64M
Voodoo2 12m
Sonic Impact S100 Sound Card
Kingston Ethernet Card

Sorry about the long list, it's necessary for my question. The system runs fine but the fan in the power supply makes an ungodly racket. I thought about just replacing the fan in the power supply but noticed a fairly nice cheap PS at CompUSA. It's only 145W. Will that be enough for the above listed system? I know nowadays most people don't go below 350W on the PS. Can I get by with the 145 on the celeron? Thanks in advance.

145W sounds kind of low to me, especially with 2 CD drives and 2 video cards. I would shoot for 300W, though maybe you could settle for 250W or so. What wattage is the current power supply? If it has lasted all this time on the old power supply, the wattage of that power supply probably is a good place to start.

I have a Pentium 3 500MHz, Intel SX440BX-2 mobo, 128MB RAM, 20GB WD 7200RPM HDD, 12X HP CD-Writer Plus, Nvidia Vanta 16MB AGP video card, Creative AudioPCI, 1 case/cpu fan (in a duct), 1 PSU fan, and a Linksys 10/100NIC all running off of a HP 185W PSU in a small HP minitower (has 3 external 5.25 bays though), which I did a "ghetto recasing" (actually it went smooth, except I cut up and spliced the front panel connectors). Runs cool and stable believe it or not!

I'm running a CDRW, a CDROM, 2 Hard drives, 32Mb PCI video card, network card, and 92mm fan off a compaq 75 Watt PS, so i'm sure that 185W will be fine in your system

misread 145 watts should still be ok
