I am looking for a good, solid, quiet power supply. I have been doing some reading and I have come up wth the following possibilities:

Antec True 480P
Zalman ZM400A-APF
Fortron Source FSP400-60FPN

Does anyone have any experience with any of these...and can you make a suggestion based upon your experience?

Thanks, chaplndave

The quietest is the Zalman and it doesn't perform that bad but my personal preference I would choose the Antec and replace the 92mm fan with a quieter one.

I have looked at PC Power & Cooling, but I would have to mortgage my first born son to be able to afford it. No arguments on the fact that it is probably one of the best p/s on the market...just way too expensive.

Not sure I actually "need" a 480...but I have read that it is always good to have more power than one needs so that the supply of electricity is always stable and pure.

Actually I already have a True Power 430, but I was planning on replacing the old 250 watt P/S in my wife's computer. She has considerably less equipment in her computer, but I wanted to make sure she had a good p/s as they are so important.

People say that a quality power supply will be 100w better then a crap power supply. What are your system specs (include everything!) so that we can make a better judgement on a power supply?

Fortron FSP350-60PN

Cheap reliable and it is super quiet, adjustable fan. Only 350W but it dosen't look like you need any more power anyway. There is also a version with an LED fan.

I have the the Zalman 400w.... Not only is it totally dead silent (I mean, silent. I can't hear it if I press my ear to it. It also doesn't push any percievable amount of air when I put my hand in front of it.) Keep in mind though, it's a single fan solution, and it does get warm. It raised my case temps by about 4C because it's like a heat radiating box in my case. Or maybe my Zalman heatpipe did that... ???

That is the one that I use..I like it a lot and the adjustable fan is a bonus. Not to mention that the fan is a big ol' 120mm jobbie.

Get SmartPower 330W. you'll be safe, and while you're at it, grab smart blue for an extra 5-10 bucks...

You'll love the blue led on the fan...

I don't know what your budget is, but I would go for the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 400W PSU.
