Power supply with removable cables

Somebody seen any commercial solution? I have seen some solutions with rounded cables, but not removable.

Why would you want such a thing? All it could do would be to drive the price up, cause lower quality connections and signal. No compatibility with anything else (you know they'd all make proprietary connections if they made this).

I agree. The only ones I know of are redundant hot swapable PSUs meant for higher end servers in rackmounts.

They are usually triple the price due to 2 PSUs, mounting cage and hardware.

Cool thing is if 1 dies the other takes over, but then you get to buy another PSU.

This would be nice if you wanted to have customized harnesses. Like, I don't need a floppy harness like many power supplies have. I need extra connectors for hard drives. What if you don't have a P4 motherboard that needs the extra connectors? That harness just takes up space in your case.

Yeah, but is it worth paying extra for every power supply you ever buy in order to have a standardized module cable system?

I think integrated power socket terminal without horrible cable mess is easy, fast and cheap solution for manufacturers. (like integrated usb connectors on the motherboard, there no need wires).

I can appreciate the idea, particularly when dealing with basic systems and psu's that have enough plugs for a loaded system w/ four disk raid array...

You could accomplish it yourself, with some basic wire working tools and molexes. Cut the harnesses short, within a couple inches of the psu, terminate with standard molex plugs. You'd be ready to plug in extension harnesses as needed, fabbed from the leftover wiring....
