Power Up Question

I have a Celeron 800 system with a Tyan Tomcat S2060 motherboard with the i815e chipset and I was wondering if there is a way to keep the computer from turning on and booting up whenever the power is disconnected and reconnected. I know on some other motherboards there is an option in the bios that can be set which controls if the system powers up in case of power failure. I have checked the manuals and the Tyan website and I have not been able to find anything.

There is a lot of work being done on the power grid in my area and sometimes the power goes in and out a couple of times in a row. Since my system automatically starts to boot up everytime, you can imagine what kind of havoc it can play on my setup. Thanks.

It sounds like you don't want your pc on, or aren't using it during these outages. Can you use the power switch on the supply?

Like dexmanone said,
If you have a switch on the back of the computer (power supply)
use it to keep it off. Some have them & some don't.
You could also plug it into a power strip & keep it off that way.
We're assuming you mean to keep it off while you are away.
If you mean the power turns off alot while you're on the computer,
I'd invest in a battery back-up.
Do a search in the Hot-deals forum.
I know the setting you're looking for in the BIOS
(friends eMachine had it), but I don't know
if your machine has it or not.
Sorry
Look in your BIOS settings for something like
"resume after power off"
"desktop"/"server" setting
If it was a server, you'd probably want it to reboot automatically after a power outage.
So you really want the "desktop" setting to keep it from cycling.
YMMV

"PME Resume Enable / disable PME resume. [Default is Disabled]
RI Resume Enable / disable RI resume. [Default is Disabled]"
I DL'ed the manual and am wondering if it's either one of these settings.!?!?!?
I don't know what they stand for so be careful.
Maybe someone will chime in and give us an idea.

Thanks for the help Greg. I couldn't find a BIOS setting that would do the trick. The problem is that the way my system sits in my desk, it makes it impossible to reach the switch on the back of the computer without pulling the whole system out. For the time being, i've hooked the system up to a powerbar that I can reach fairly easily. Hopefully my power situation will improve soon. Thanks again for your help.
