Powershot S200 - $199

i really love my S230, which I picked up in a dell hot deal back in December. My roommate has an A40 that he loves. Canon makes a great camera.

NO!!!! at least when I recharged mine it didn't make any noise at all. I have other rechargers and none of them make any noises.


The s200 is great! It's a nice companion for my sony f717

I tried my officemax and the Canon S200 is indeed on the substitution list. HOWEVER, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC20 is on the list above the S200 so they have to be sold out of it too. By the way, the Lumix is a heap of dung and is basically acting as a barrier to the S200.

I was told the same thing, I basically went into a fit saying that its a made up rule and that I can get the S200 if I ask for it. He went into the back of the counter and found out that he didn't have Panasonics anyway. whew!

I was worried about that in my little smallsville, but I was lucky that they were out of the S40. They might have had 1 or 2 of them and sold those. By the expression on the guy's face, I must have been the first person to ask about the S200 as a sub. One good thing about shopping in the boonies is that they take competitiors' coupons and allow PMing like nowhere else!

You can find the staples coupons on fatwallet's forum. It's really hit and miss with either the staples or their own coupons. Some places will take them with no problems, while others will not. Good luck!

Arghhh.. i went to OM today with a printed coupon in hand.
I asked about the A40, and they said out of stock (i was happy). Then i asked for substittue, and they said they r out too!!
So to make sure, i asked s200 is one of the substittue, right? and they said yes, but they r out of it....

I'm thinking, that maybe they r really out, but feel like maybe they r lying to me so they wont have to sell me the s200 for $170.

Scored two S200's for $169+tax out the door at OM in Norwood, MA. Manager couldn't even find the substitution list but took my work for it. Bought one service plan to make him happy...will be returning that shortly...

Ran right over to BB and tried a PM. The woman was going to give it to me no questions asked until I got greedy and tried to buy 3. "Can we pricematch more than 1??" was the last thing I heard before the manager was over shutting my deal down in a hurry. Well, I might try another CC or BB later today...

Just tried the Office Max by Hillsdale in San Mateo, CA. F-cking manager won't subsitute the A40 for the s200. They have a quite a few s200s, too.

Asked for the A40, OOS. As would he substitute, NO, i won't substitute.

A bit harsh, no? I purchased the Lumix LC20 awhile back for a 2nd camera, because of it's portability. The camera takes GREAT pics- the only weakness it has is the flash, just like the S200. However, it doesn't use crappy compactflash memory like the S200 (it uses SD).

I was interested in picking up the S200 as a possible replacement, until I noticed the memory it used. I'll pass.

Yes, probably. I know nothing about the Lumix other than I didn't like the look of it AND it was preventing me from getting an S200. I guess I'm just a really shallow person. I like Panasonic as a brand though, they rarely disappoint.

Here's some discussion on the LC20. I got the S200 but the Lumix is supposed to have a Leica lens (Leica is highly regarded as top quality, the pro's pros use their lenses). That's about all I know about the panasonic. It's really a shame they have no following bec they make great other things, like phones.

My first post on AT... I picked up an S200 yesterday for $169, and bought a 64meg CF card for $39.99, for...get this...a total of $190.78. They typed the price of the camera in as 169 instead of 199, then scanned the CF card, and took another $30 off for the Staples coupon. I'm going back today to buy another one for a friend, but I doubt I'll get the $139.99 deal again... I pretty much just played dumb with them about them being out of the A40 and offering a substitution for that price.

BTW, they gave me my choice of the panasonic and the S200.
