Is a generic 300w PS going to be enough to run a machine w/ the following specs?

AMD Athlon 1.4 w/ SK6 & black label screamer
Abit KT7A
40 gig IDE HD
generic IDE CD-ROM
SoundBlaster Live! Value
GeForce2 GTS 64 meg
ISA 3Com NIC
256 megs RAM

Probably, but be warned, those generic PSU's are not always a good deal. I have a friend that put a system together and was using a generic (I think it was called value line) 300 watt PSU and he could not get his system to work with his new video card, only putting in his old card and removing a nic would it work. He put in a sparkle 250 watt and his system worked fine. So he went out anf bought a 350watt enermax.

300W from a good PSU should power most systems easily... The word "generic" can be scary... never know what you're going to get!!

Should work just fine. I using a generic 250w ps right now.
No instablility or anything, runs fine.

Powersupply sizes as advertized, for example "300 watt" mean very little. Look at the wattage for the +3 and +5 volt lines. For a 300 watt unit it maybe between 130 and 180 watts. If the value is low for your supply, it probably won't work. R

The combine voltage of (3.3v & 5v) of 150W & above should be fine.
