Powersupply won't turn on

I finally got done making sure everything was in place, yada yada yada, plugged the PSU into my surge protector, flipped the switch, and nothing....

I attempted to raise the voltage on the PSU by using a screw driver to rotate the screws in back, then I flipped the switch....nothing...

Could I have a dead PSU on my hands?

Is this your first build?

You mean you're using the case switch and not the switch on the PSU, right?

Case buttons are connected to the motherboard?

Powersupply switch is on?

Set to 115V? (hopefully)

ATX and other connections (12V etc) connected to motherboard?

This is my first build, yes (I admit, I am definately a noob)

I connected all the necessary power connections to the motherboard but I did *not* attach the cables for the button in front that would start up the PSU from the front of the PC. I instead was just planning on using the switch on the PSU itself. Is this an issue?

That wont turn it on. You can turn the PSU off via that route if it's on, but it needs a signal from the motherboard ATX connector to turn on.

All of the ATX power connectors are in place....

When I speak of the ATX power connectors I mean:

The 24 pin PSU connector
The EZ _Plug connector
The 4 pin ATX12V1 connector

you *have* to short those two pins on the motherboard in order for the system to turn on. A screw driver will do it, as will a button. That's all the button is does is short 2 pins on the motherboard, which cause the psu and everything to start. Just hook up the front button to the proper place on the motherboard.....

you HAVE to connedt the DC power connector from the case to the mobo, or you need to short it as stated above

okay, the reason why i think it is the psu is because the led lights on the psu aren't lighting up even when it is connected to an outlet.

I will try from the very start again, see if i missed something....

but do you think the led lights not lighting up is a sign of a dead psu?

Nothing will light up until you connect the power switch at the front of your case to the motherboard.

Make sure you connect the p4 connect to 4 pin mother board connect ,not the p4+
