Prime95 errors

I have been using Prime95 to test stability of my system.

Does Prime95 test only cpu or memory as well?

Do certain errors occur for specific reasons, in other words, is threre a way to tell what in particular went wrong by the type of error I get?

Is there a way to get a 'snapshot' of the system temps/voltages at the time an error occurred?

( I hope this is not in the wrong forum. )

Thanks.

Hi,

For help with Prime95 errors, you'll probably be best in the CPU/Processors and Overclocking forum. They seem to know about using Prime95 as a stability test

Many people here in the DC forum do not use Prime95, as the Team support for the stats is lacking, and we're more stats people

Many people here use other projects, like Seti@home. On my own systems, they fail the Prime95 tests immediately, but will run Seti@home and everything else I want it to without a hiccup!

Confused- Thanks for the reply!

I thought this might be the wrong forum- I did a search and did not find many references to Prime95 here.

I guess I'll just use my system and see what happens. As long as it doesn't crash during my daily usage that may be all the stabillity I need.

That is weird that SETI does not crash you system but Prime95 does.

Is this by any chance a system running XP? I've seen several people that have trouble running prime95 in XP, while others seem to have no problems whatsoever.

That means that you're probably sending bad results to Seti@home. It's in everyone's best interest to ensure a stable overclock (or a stable system for that matter) can run Prime95 for at least a few hours.

If you want to test your memory give DF (Distributed Folding) a go.

Used with the extra RAM option it utilizes about 100MB. Copy the client to a a couple of directories, and let 'em run. My system is stable with RAM settings that DF just can't take.
