Problem with 3DMark2001SE and DirectX9?

Today I installed DirectX9 and a Radeon 9700, and now I can't run 3DMark2001SE. It says I need DirectX 8.1 and proper drivers installed. I installed the Catalyst 3.1 drivers with no problem, and before removing my old video card I uninstalled the Detonators I had. Any ideas what is going on?

You will need to run 3DMark03 if you have DX9 installed, or do a clean install of your OS and stick with DX 8.1

i got the same error after installing dx9 and 3dmark03, seems like 3dmark01 doesnt like the new direct x.

They (Futuremark) released a patch for 3dm2k1 that corrects the problem...I believe they have it on their website.

I have nothing but problems with Direct X 9.0 and the cat 3.1's. I'm using an 8500 and this is the only time I've ever had problems with anything invloving it. But seriously... I can't play MOHAA or RTCW anymore, yet counter strike still works (but doesn't look ast good as it used to). I just get black screans when i got into MOHAA or RTCW. I thought DX was supposed to be backwards compatable... I'm going to reinstall DX 8.1 from the MOHAA cd this weekend and put my 6043's drivers back on... now those were quality drivers! haha

did you uninstall reinstall those games after upgrading to directx 9

i am playing mohaa fine with my 9700 and directx9 although i did have to reinstall a few games to get everything to play nice lol
