Does anyone else get moments in a game when you let go of a keyboard button, but your character still moves as if you were still holding it? It doesn't happen all of the time, but seems to occure exactly when I don't want it to (in BF2 as I'm turning a corner with a shotgun and a support troop flops on the ground). It didn't use to happen when I had my 7800's. I don't know what it is, but I've gone through 3 keyboards, 2 of them PS/2 connection and the current one is USB. Happens no matter what.

Could be the game itself?

Sounds like something went funky with your system, but I doubt it is the videocard's fault.

When you get such a specific problem like that, i'm sure the other 11ty billion people in the world who use ATI might have noticed this

I'm using a 7900GT, so it's not just ATI. It only happens to me in one particular game, and the problem lasts a full second. I have my "max frames to render ahead" option set to zero as BFG10K suggested some time ago about triple buffering. Maybe it's some kind of background program going nuts? For example, I always WMP playing protected music when I play theh game.

mmmmyyyyaaa those games aren't bugy are they? It happens to me too with both those games. Between BF2 and Oblivion crashing it's a wonder I get any gaming done. In Oblivion I have been stuck bunyhopping all the way down a road (and not on purpose either). I just think they are glitches josh.

Odd...this happens on my Sony Ericcson J200i when I play Deep Abyss. It fixes when I tap the arrows in the opposite direction then back in the direction it was moving in (i.e. if the character is moving right automagically, tap the keys left then right to fix it! Works for all combos of left/right & up/down). There, now you have learned something completely useless today.

I was going to suggest you have a bad keyboard...but since you went through 3 keyboards, I will just say you have bad Battlefield 2 Karma. ;-)

Yeah, that's what I end up doing too and I think it works a little faster.

It also happens in FEAR, and IMHO that game is probably the least buggiest one I've got. Which is a faster connection, PS/2 or USB? I've got Tray Tools and ATI Tool running behind my games so maybe those are throwing it off. Also, does everyone who is experiencing the problem own a DFI motherboard?

I don't know why it would be tied to motherboards specifically, but here's my rig FYI:

ThermalTake TR2-500 PP PSU
Athlon64 3000+ Winchester
MSI K8N Neo Platinum 4 rev. 1
OCZ Platinum 2GB PC3200
eVGA GeForce 7900GT KO
ESound 5.1 USB Headphones
Belkin F8E208-BLK PS/2 Keyboard
Logitech MX518 USB Mouse
Linksys PCI Wireless G w/ WRX

There's probably some little utility in this list that's playing around with the input:

XP Home Edition SP2
Fraps
WindowBlinds 5.1
WindowFX 3.0
Linksys Wireless Network Monitor
Windows One Care Antivirus
Windows Defender
Logitech Mouse Utility

I don't play BF2 or Oblivion, and F.E.A.R. works perfectly for me, so it's possible our problems have very similar though different causes.

Have had a 9700pro, x800xt pe and a x1900gt and none have had that problem? I am also using a logitech g5 at this time. Maybe it is some conflict with the sound card (I tend to blame everything on creative).

It happened to me in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, but that was because my CPU was overclocked like crazy at the time. Never had this problem due to a video card of any brand.

Its happened to me, but ive pretty much got everything wireless in my room, so moving the receiver and the mouse and keyboard closer usually helps. As they start to drift apart in frantic playing sessions...

Doubt it's related to the video card, sounds like a USB or other issue. That said, yes, I've had that happen before.

From what I have now gathered, it does seem to be a common problem. I thought it had to do with some setting I may or may not have had because I didn't ever notice it with Nvidia. Just a coinsidence I guess since it happens to both Nvidia and ATI owners.
