Problem with Epox 8RDA

Does anyone know how to fix. or did they hear of any problem with the Epox 8RDA+

my problem is the board has a hard time multitasking, say im running a minimul cpu/hd usage game and i minimize it... i cant even brows the internet. because it cant read/write the hd it just ... LAGS


I tried 4 Differant BRAND NEW hds (Maxtor/WD)


Current setup is
AMD 1700+
2x 256 Hyper-X 3500 DDR
WD 80GB 8MB 7200
Radeon 9800 Pro


even when i just format/Install windows. and install AIM or any other program.. once windows boots. it takes about 30-40 seconds be4 i can click on anything/ or until aim shows up on autorun.

In the BIOS, under Integrated Peripherals ( I think that's the section) do you have "AUTO" selected for the IDE/DMA channels? They should all be AUTO. Don't force anything.

Also, under Device Manager, IDE/ATAPI Controller, check the tabs. You should see the tabs for Primary and Secondary IDE channels. Make sure those are set correctly. They will most likely grab setting from the BIOS, but check to be sure.

Also, how do you have your Optical drives set up in relation to the HD?

The HD should be master (jumpered and cabled as such) on whatever channel it's on. If there's an optical drive on the same channel, be sure it's jumpered as Slave.

Let's start there.

Im at work right now so i cant check the bios, but i tried Master/Slave on HD/CD and even just the 1 CS HD

still same problem

Use the supplied UltraATA cable and set all drives on it to Cable Select. Ensure the NVIDIA Unified driver was installed after WIndows was.
