Problem with monitor?

My monitor is about two months old, and it is made by Systemax. My problem is the refresh rate can be seen going down the screen, how can I fix this? It can get annoying after a while. Also, the screen will flicker about every hour or so. Could this be related to the refresh line? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

What's your refresh rate set at? Do you have the latest drivers installed? Have you tried changing the source of power (different room or at least plug from a different room)? I don't know anything about Sytemax monitors but you should check their web site to see if you can get an online manual on the monitor. It sounds like your refresh rate is too low but it could be a couple of other generic issues like EMI, "dirty" power supply, etc. My votes on the refresh rate

Does anything else happen when the screen does it's thing, like a refrigerator go on or such?

If you have your monitor drivers loaded properly; go to control panel, display, settings, advanced, monitor--and you should have the option of adjusting the refresh rate there.

This almost sounds like a vertical adjustment, some monitors have a knob on the back to adjust this (like a tv).

I checked the Display Properties, and in the Monitor properties box, I clicked the Advanced Tab. In there it asked for monitor make and model. It did not have Systemax in the list, so I left that as it was, default or something like that. In the model list it was set on &quot;Standard Television&quot;. Farther down the list was &quot;plug and Play&quot;, I clicked on it, the screen flashed for a second and the refresh rate line was gone. You &quot;Naled&quot; it! Thanks for the help on this.
