Problem with Nvidia Drivers

I have a problem installing Nvidia 40.72 drivers in Windows 98
the self extract executable file gives me an error which is
propably related to the operating system. Iam trying to find a link with
40.72 Nvidia drivers so i can install the drivers from the device manager
and not to run the exe file. Any links?

Did you disable anti-virus software before install,also removing the old drivers first is very wise,btw try Driver Cleaner 1.1 works for XP,2k,98 etc .

Yes, i have tried that. I need a way to install the files from the device manager

You can also change your adapter to a generic Microsoft SVGA in the Display control panel, reboot then run the install package from the nvidia site? Removing the old drivers as Mem mentioned would force you to use some other driver as well.

I'm assuming you're just asking for the driver files, and only have a driver .exe file now.
And you just want to have the driver files in a folder, so you can install them manually.
Correct?
If so...

Download and install Winrar, then you'll be able to extract the executable driver file you have now by right clicking on it and selecting "extract here" or wherever you want.

Extract driver to folder of your choice, point device manager there to install.

Of course, if the executable driver file you have now is corrupted and thats whats causing your errors, then you'll need to re-download it.

Sig is just reflecting the fact that i keep my xp pro updated, as well as the rest of my pc/drivers.

Cuz we all know the 1st answer to every question is..."Do you have the latest drivers installed?"

Gets kinda old saying Yessss i do...lol
