Prior to trying to upgrade from xp to either ubuntu or vista I would experience crashes in intense games that would either take me back to the desktop or completely freeze the comp. Now when I try to switch operating systems, both freeze and lockup the computer in the beginning stages of installation (completely wiped hard drive, although only did 'quick format' and not the long one. I didn't think that would really make a difference anyways) But xp installs absolutely fine.
My vid card lately had been overheating so I got a brand new rma. I have also ran memtest and came back error free. I'm at a loss and I really wanna upgrade to ubuntu/vista and be able to play games without crashing. And the specs,
specs:
mobo - chaintech vnf3-250
proc - athlon 64 3700 (754)
ram - (2) 512mb mushkin pc3200
vid - x800xt pe (agp)
everything is probably 2.5 years old, except vid card, and the freezing and lockups during games started maybe 1.5 years ago. TIA guys
