Problems with FarCry and 8800GTS

Does the 1.4 official support HDR+AA? Or is it the 1.4 beta?

The beta patch allows HDR + AA however some are reporting it has gameplay bugs.

I had the 3 CDs and patches worked fine.

OP- Try installing the patch in safe-mode.

no, i have the 5 disk version and it can be patched no problems at all.

1. Have you tried uninstalling the game, reinstalling and patching from there?

2. If you are playing FC singleplayer only, DO NOT install patch 1.4. If you read the Ubisoft forums, you will see that the patch is a complete joke and ruins the SP game. The AI can see you through walls and canvas and will shoot at you while you are hidden, among other bugs.

Many hardcore FC community players stopped playing the game because of this patch, and several actually got together and released unofficial patch 1.41 (or 1.44 can't remember) to change the game back to 1.33...

Cool, I think I am going to try Far Cry out again and see what it looks like at 1920x1200 with all the settings pimped out.

Does the 1.4 beta make the same gameplay changes as the official 1.4? I want to play through this game again with the HDR+AA feature and ECU pack, but the 1.4 AI changes don't sound good.

For AMD cards, can you instead use the trick of renaming the game to Oblivion.exe? I remember that used to work in SCCT.

I'll get a DVD version of Farcry from a friend to try it.
I'm running XP Pro SP2 BTW.

No, 1.4 official seems to mainly have MP fixes.

That won't work because Far Cry doesn't do HDR quite the same way as Oblivion does.

I don't think so because I doubt that's your problem; there is no way they could alienate CD users like that.

Have you run your system at stock speeds?

No I haven't. I'll try that tomorrow when I have some more time and let you all know how it turns out.
