When I turn on my computer, it beeps, silent, beeps, silent, beeps, slient, and nothing comes up on the screen. The heatsink was off but I re-attached it. It still does the same thing. The motherboard is an ABit IS7. Any ideas what I should do?
Motherboard manuals don't usually list beep codes. Three short beeps should indicate a memory problem. This could be due to the mainboard failing (electrically or by damaged memory slots), or the memory itself. Reseat both memory modules. If that doesn't work, try them out one at a time, in each of the slots, to determine if any modules or slots are bad. Also try it without any memory at all, you should get just two beeps.
You may also have damaged the CPU if that's the heatsink that was off.
