I installed my Teac 512EB Burner yesterday and it's acting kind of strange. I haven't tested the burn capability on it yet, but when I try to do some DAE, it only extracts at 1.2x. It's rated 14-20x for DAE. Anyone know what's up with this?
I have it installed as a secondary master. There is another, older cdrom on the chain, which used to be the master, but is now the slave. It still has no difficulty extracting at its normal speed.
I disconnected the second cdrom from the computer and DAE performance was still poor.
The drive is set to use DMA. It made no difference in DAE performance when I forced it into PIO mode.
I have used EAC .9 prebeta in secure mode (accurate stream), EAC in synchronous mode, and Nero to do the extracting. In EAC synchronous it got up to 5.0x.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I thought about flashing the firmware to see if that helped, but Teac's firmware page says that you need to have win9x/me to flash the firmware. I was going to flash anyway but I don't know how to disable the auto-insert notification in win2k.
