Hello everyone.
Heres what happened:
I was playing Company of heroes on my x1900xt (not overclocked) when I receive a message from my ati drivers that my card was overheating and that it was going to be underclocked. I kept playing as I was in a match at the time. It repeated this message 3 more times. Right when I was quitting the match my computer froze. I hard rebooted and I received a message in red on top of the screen (before anything else posted) that my video cards fan may be broken, etc.
I again rebooted and it started into windows. About 20 seconds later on my desktop the computer froze again. I had to turn off the PSU just to restart. I went to my bios and was checking for settings that I could change and it froze again in the bios.
The video card showed 74C while playing the game. The fan was spinning when I checked the video card. The last time I tried to reboot and got it to stay up for longer then 30 seconds I checked the temps again and it said 49C. I did not smell anything funny coming from my computer but it seems my video card could be burnt.
I have replaced the video card thinking it was burnt with a working card and the exact same thing happens. So should I suspect the motherboard is done?
So heres my questions!
1. Is my motherboard burnt? Is there any way to salvage/test to make sure its the motherboard?
2. I purchased this about 6 months ago from newegg. Can this be warrantied if it is burnt, I cant seem to find it on gigabytes site. I know newegg only has a 30 day policy?
Thanks!
