Ok, I've got a laptop which I use as my main computer. A 1800+ XP box which runs SETI and Apache all day everyday. Then I have an older box (180 MHz) which runs RH9 and SETI. Lately I've kept the 180 MHz box off to keep my room as cool as possible. When I just have my laptop on, it isn't so bad. But when my laptop and 1800+ box are on it just blazes in here.

Laptop: ~45-50C normal. ~70C under heavy load.
1800+: ~51C running SETI.

What can I do to cool down my room more? I'm going to try a Delta for my CPU here in a few, but I just remember that thing being soooo loud. I'm also going to clean both desktops out. I'm sure they each have some nice dust...

Well I doubt that the 180Mhz system will really put out all that much heat, especially if its monitor is off.

To keep the room cool...um, air conditioner? The Walmart I work at has 5000BTU models (maybe 5200 but I can't be sure) on Rollback for $90.

if you wanna go cheaper, just get a fan which will improve air flow and not stress the electricity bill too much

Changing the CPU fan won't do anything. The same amount of heat will be produced by the CPU, and end up in the room. You'd have to reduce the amount of heat the computers are producing,

Options are basically AC and fans. Fans will be the most effective if they're exhausting somewhere, like outside or an attic.

Usually monitors kick out a LOT of heat. Do you keep yours turned off when not in use?

A fan blowing in your room isn't gonna lower temps unless it's blowing cooler air in. Window A/C is the only real option.

Exactly. Go pick up a window air conditioner or get some fans and try to push the hot air out.
