Today at work (a small college) I was handed the assignment of replacing our current fleet of projectors with brand new models. We have approximately thirty projectors that need replacement. Simple enough, right? Wrong.
We are replacing all our current projectors with Short Throw projectors to eliminate shadows. This has been a major complaint from the staff, as well as the obvious eye issues from having the projector looking at them. And so this is non-negotiable.
Our next step is these things have got to be bright. Our staff refuse to turn off the lights most of the time when projectors are in use, so that the students may copy notes and what not. While I've worked here we have had a department complain about a projector being too dim and washed out when they employed the lights on, but a perfect, vibrant screen when the lights were turned off. The way the room was set up, the lights were either all off or on. And for them, no matter what, it was "too dark" for students to be able to write and thus needed replacement. :|
The real kicker is the budget. I only have about twenty-two to twenty-three thousand to play around with here. This has to also include all new mounting hardware for the projectors.
So, to summarize my needs:
Budget: $22,000 - $23,000
Total Projectors Needed: 30
Total MAX Price Per Unit: $766.66 (This must include mounting hardware)

- VGA Input or HDMI (Most of our machines are VGA, with a few DVI. But we have plenty of DVI to HDMI adapters about)

- Long Bulb Life
- Less bulk the better

- As cheap as possible for a good quality
