promise ultra133TX2 to FastTrack TX2000 Raid?

I have been spending a while googling this and havent been able to find any answers. I remeber at one time reading that you could flash the bios of a particular pci ide controller with the bios of the raid counterpart and have, well, a card idetical to the raid counterpart. I have a promise ultra133 TX2 ide card with the PDC20269 Ver.2.20 B10 chip. The FastTrack TX2000 card appears to be physically identical, but I cant seem to find out what chip is actually on it. Does anyone know if this is possible, or at least what chip the fasttrack uses. I dont have any money tied up in it so Im willing to experiment. If it works I have a couple of 120 gig drives Id like to stripe together.

you could do it with the ata 100 ultra but not with the ultra 133 tx.

Bummer, I just read that it can utilize a software raid option, I wonder if it would be worth it. Probably not if its anything like software modems. I would be using it in linux entirely.

i've done it with the ATA 66 and ATA 100 models but like bacillus said, not possible with the never 133

they fixed that, and it can't be hacked anymore
