My parents went through it.. before they could claim social security.. they were asked are they US Citizens.. and had to present proof at the SS Office.

I think they are required to ask everybody. Imaging having that job, getting all that guff from actual citizens. What does that have to do with their citizenship? You might want to spend a little time looking into how many US citizens speak a different language at home, and out in public with their family members. (hint: if you do, you will understand how stupid your comment is).

I can tell you exactly how he found it. His DOGE boys are running queries on databases looking at the raw data and making assumptions that are incorrect. You can't interpret raw data in this type of old, complex environment without looking at the application code to see how it handles that data field. It's the same reason why his 150yo people on the SS database were getting SS payments was false. My IT career was in this type of environment, COBOL applications running on mainframe systems. Data fields change over time and changed to mean something different or are no longer used and it's not worth it to make changes unless it is actually causing a problem.

Another thing to keep in mind is that all these changes the DOGE boys are making are mass changes on critical databases with little or no testing. That's how these DOGE boys roll. We'll see more and more systems break because of their carelessness.

They can and do (by the droves) qualify for and receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which is the source of a lot of confusion. SSI is not paid out against the SSA Trust, as are SSA retirement and SSDI (disability insurance) benefits. SSI comes out of the general fund without any pegging to SSA Trust. They also can get Medicaid, but not Medicare.
