ABC hath done it again! The writing and narration are superb! While the show is definitely oddball and bizarre, the lightly dark humor, the writing and the cast makes this one a hit. I'm pretty sure this will be bigger than "Chuck".

For those who don't watch pre-air, definitely set your DVRs to record the premiere on Oct. 4th.

For those who have seen it:
Ned: It's a random proximity thing
Emerson: Bitch *I* was in proximity!

Plot

Pushing Daisies is a "forensic fairy tale" that focuses on Ned, a piemaker with a mysterious ability to make the dead live again. The gift is not without its complications, however ? if he touches this being a second time, they'll be dead permanently. If they live for more than 60 seconds, somebody else nearby will die. (Quote: "It's a random proximity thing") [6]. It's a gift that he puts to good use to help a private investigator friend, Emerson Cod and his childhood sweetheart, the once-dead Charlotte "Chuck" Charles.[7]

I don't know, I haven't seen an episode yet, but the premise sounds somewhat far fetched and silly to me. Doesn't look like something I'd want to watch, but hey, you never know what shows might surprise.

A guy from work was raving about this show this morning ... might have to check it out.

I liked it. Reminded me a bit of Amelie, the French movie. Bright colors, interesting camera setups, etc.

I liked it...sort of watered down Burton or Jeunet style. Watching it, I realized how surprising it is that up until now, no one has applied that off the wall dark comedy atmosphere in television.

I liked it a lot. I kept thinking of Dr. Seuss the whole time watching. The narrator dude sounded like the same guy from the cartoons other then the rhyming and all the bright vivid colors.

Yeah, and I don't like that stype.

But, I think I'll watch this show. Anna Friel is delightful. Ned is likeable as well.

I don't mind the premise but Ned and Chuck stay way too close to each other. Just as the travel agent made a simple mortal error, Chuck doesn't get a third chance if she and Ned accidently touch. Did I mention that they don't take the simple precaution of some safe distance between themselves? And how does the dog know not to jump on or touch Ned?

Does it seem like they read their lines too fast?

not really...tru calling has very little to do with this other than the death aspect which is common to a ton of shows frankly. plus tru calling was pretty weak... i watched the first season way back.

Yeah the dog thing kind of bugged me at first but then I remembered its a TV show and laughed when he used the fake hand thing to pet the dog.

I gave in and watched it.... It was pretty much lousy, with a lot of 'weird' thrown in for no real reason. Pretty much a yawner, it won't be on my tivo again.
My guess is people will like it because it's something 'different', so it won't get cancelled until the end of the season.

Felt the same way. Figure it will be OK for a season, but then it will get stuck in a serious rut. I think I like Life and Journeyman best of the new season shows. Journeyman probably won't last as it is sort of Quantum Leap meets reality show.

Life has been the best quirky show so far.

I really liked this show. The visuals and the music were great. It is definitely a dark comedy, but I was cracking up much of the way through it.
