q6600 and speedstep etc..

Hey guys. I have a Q6600 OC'd to 3.6GHz and decided to enable speedstep and eist or whatever its called. Everything looks fine and the multiplier drops when idle, but the core voltage (as reported by CPUZ) doesn't appear to drop. I have the voltage set manually (on a gigabyte p35 boards) so, is the voltage in the chip actually dropping? Is it just not being reported by CPUZ? I know my chip doesnt need 1.44v to run at 2.4GHz . Thx guys.

Try enabling your C1E option if you have one.

I did. It also appears my idle temps are consistent with a 1.4v core

A lot of MBs disable the under-volt portion of EIST/C1E on any overclock.

Yup, my P5B Deluxe does that. Wish it didn't.

Abit IP35 boards work fine with C1E and EIST as long as the BIOS is at default CPU multiplier.

I now suspect that my board (p35-dq6) will only unvolt the cpu if the voltage is left on auto. I don't feel like testing it though because my board thinks 1.372v is enough for 3.6ghz haha.
