q9300 oc

so i have my Q9300 oc'ed to 3.3ghz on ~1.345v. its prime95 stable for 8 hours.. sisoft benches stable. no problems.

ram is ocz reaper 1066 oc'ed to just over 1100 on 2.2v. memtest86+ stable for 8hrs as well. and the heavy ram test on prime95 comes up with nothing.

ATI CCC oc'ed my video card to 780 core and 1090 ram. but i've left it stock speeds for the time being

and yet. the computer isn't stable at all. games cause it to freeze or BSOD. although i have though of my PSU being a weak point being only an Antec TruePower 550w.

its also running 5x sata hd's, 1 blu-ray/hd-dvd drive/dvd burner, 1 dvd burner, 1 ide drive, 1 turtle beach sound card, 1 ati theater 550 pro, and 1 hauppauge hvr-1250.

my past cpu overclock of a core 2 duo E6300 to ~3ghz was perfectly stable with a x1900 with a very similar setup minus the hauppauge capture card and one hd.

edit: forgot to mention, if i run Folding@home and Seti@home at the same time, the system freezes/bsod's as well.

What is your video card? Have you benched the video card with 3dmark?

CPU temps? GPU temps?

It could be just an unstable O/C Prime95 isn't the best stability checker, your combo of FOH and Seti would be a much better test.

cpu temps idle with core temp .99.4(ajusted for (95C maximum temperature), running TRUE with panaflo 120mm(havent put AS5 or anything special though, thats my own fault)

ok well i just ran OCCT gpu test, and the screen went black, and i had to reboot. im assuming its gpu related or power related. not enough amps getting to the VC? i forgot to mention, its a radeon 4870.

edit: the real problems started when i started overclocking my cpu. im thinking i am pushing the psu over its limits and should downclock back to stock for now.

edit 2: ok, very very definitly gpu and psu. i ran the OCCT gpu test again. after 3-5min i got a screen full of jibberish and then two black screens.. does that mean my graphics card is shot? or would it be the gpu isnt getting enough power.

edit 3: forgot to mention, gpu is only hitting 56C under load before i crash.

ok well i just ran 3dmark, no problems, ran flawlessly and gpu hits 58C peak temperature. so its pretty much narrowed it down to power supply is what i'm seeing right now.

Yeh, that's a lot of stuff. You're probably overloading one of the rails.
