Why is the load line calibration so important & what makes this board worth $60 more than the P5Q-E

Get over to the Intel side already man.

I have an nForce chipset.
It's my A8N32-SLI Deluxe ...back from when they made decent chipsets.

Anyway, all i'd like to see is max P95 stable clocks @ 1.4v on air, as anything more is too high for 45nm IMO anyway.

Well, it basically prevents vdroop (& vdrop too actually in this case).

Load line off = same kind of vdroop as he's getting

Actually my DFI P35-T2R was better for vdroop being not too bad even when not set to prevent that, but the DFI was also pure garbage for clocking 8 GB stably, hence my dumping it.

To avoid taking this too off topic, i'd just say go to Asus's spec pages for those two mobos & open two pages side by side.
There are a number of differences...whether they are worth $60 only you can decide...

My DFI isnt garbage tho. :T

DFI LT X38

Only problem im having is it and xfire tho.

And no i cant get 450fsb stable.

as i said the vdroop pushes it to 1.32. i know for a fact most yorkies will require from 1.33-1.36Vcore

Start testing 8 GB DDR2 @ DDR2-1000+ & running HCI Memtest for stability testing...see how much you like your DFI then.

Also, who cares about 450 MHz stable...use your unlocked multi
I assume 4+ GHz is stable on air based on what you posted at XS?

Your 4.25 GHz P95 screenie there isn't on air though

???

n7 i think you got my processors messed up lol.

This is my QX and she's stable. She's wcging without errors.
Persephone:
http://i125.photobucket.com/al...3/aigomorla/Wprime.jpg

What im testing is freya and its a Q9650.
No unlocked multi on this girl. 9x is about as high it gets.

The retail price per1k is 500ish. I dont remember the exact number.
Freya:
http://i125.photobucket.com/al...aigomorla/Capture3.jpg

She wont hold there because i need about .2-.3 more vcore.
This is a guessimate. I need to do a pencil mod tomorrow and then im gonna retry.

Guys: DISCLAMER
I SERIOUSLY DONT RECOMEND PENCIL MODS.
If you dont know what your doing DONT pencil mod. The Vdroop is there for a reason. Im gonna pencil mod to get vcore @ a low voltage. Im not pushing 1.4V so i want a Vcore somewhere around 1.3875

This is why im pencil moding.

(JAG i said it so dont PWN me please)

Oh i thought it would be interesting if i threw the lowest voltage required for stock mhz.

So right now im testing that. :T

hey thanks for getting the x264 test results out the door so fast. Just one question, is there a total encode time as the final result? That would make comparison easier.

umm, if you look at their database of results on the site, it's posted as total run time. there probably a way to convert to it. i will check it out. if you see no other output, you probably captured everything.

The output file lists the FPS for four runs. Average the FPS and then divide the listed number of frames by the fps rate. Do this for both sections (the fast and slow) and add the times together.

encoded 1442 frames, 21.48 fps, 3952.97 kb/s
encoded 1442 frames, 21.39 fps, 3952.97 kb/s

so (69.08+69.34+61.91+69.60)/4 = 67.4825 fps (fast)

and (21.48+20.94+21.48+21.39)/4 = 21.3225 fps (slow)

So we have 1442frames/67.4825fps + 1442frames/21.3225fps = 89.0 seconds for Aigo's run.

Using the Graysky embedded excel spreadsheet calculator (scroll down to middle of page) we see the expected time for a 3.6GHz Yorkfield is 1:29, exactly 89 seconds just as Aigo got.

guys i have no loyalty to intel.

i would not edit my data to make them better. :T

i promise you, my data i give you guys is all virgin.

B4 editing or anything.

Anyhow i got 450fsb stable on prime. But i trip the OCCT temp sensor.

The load temps im not happy about. It was loading at around 73C on realtemp.

To some that may not seem a lot, but guys persephone loads at 52ish on higher voltage settings.

so to me, its OUCH. i need to get a better fan or water, so the 4.0 review is on hold for a little bit.

yeah.. but that makes removal so much more difficult.

That completely defeats the idea of a torture rack. :

But it may come down to that.

The Northbridge on this guy pisses me off to. And no aftermarket solution for it minus 2 waterblocks. So i may have to water the board and cpu.
