Have you seen the ET:Quake Wars screens? they look like downgraded doom 3 engine...and what is the megatexture technology? cant find any good info explaining it

Quake 2 was the best of the 3. Quake 1 was a revolutionary and evolutionary piece. Quake 3 wasnt worth playing although the Engine was nice.

Quake1 is and always will be 300x better than Quake2. Not only was Quake1 revolutionary. It was also the fastest Quake, the best gameplay, the best physics, the best community, and the best network play.

Q1- great
Q2- ok but Q2 CTF w/grappling hook was one of the the best mods ever
Q3- never bought, never played

Q2 CTF what ever happend to Bomberman's server. That was a really good server.

Looks very good, but with all the action, and the D3 engine, I'm going to have to upgrade my video card to play it at a decent framerate. D3 was barely capable of running, and it was mostly black on my machine.

I think I'll start saving now for the machine overhaul ...

doesn't impress me much. But we will see once it comes. I just have a funny feeling its gonna be another letdown. I played the crap out of Quake 1(superheros mod) and is the game that got me started playing online. I never played single player much though. Then I went to Quake 2(Action quake) never played the single player to it much either. I played some Quake 3 but lost interest fast.

Then from there I went to UT which I fell in love with and continue to play some and enjoy along with CS:S. Don't get me wrong I hope this turns out to be killer but I won't be holding my breath.

Downgraded? Looks better than Doom 3 to me. Lucky for us ID isn't making it. They should stick to engines, their games haven't been that great lately.

Looks way too much like Doom 3 (Yes I know it's the same engine).

I will give it a try though, I'm not saying it looks bad.

It's just a feeling of déja vue. At least it seems to be faster paced than Doom 3.

And more importantly, LESS DARKER. Thanks God.

I agree this looks less like a true "Quake 4" and more like a "Doom 3 1/2."

To me, it just doesn't seem to extend the "Quake II" look, but it could be argued that Quake II didn't really extend the "Quake I" look, either.

Was it just me, or did that look rather uninteresting? And the graphics...didn't seem very good to me.

Still far too similar to teh horrible Doom 3 if you ask me, & honestly, i don't care about the single player mode one bit.

I want to see the online multiplayer, since that's what the other Quakes are infamous for, & that's what i'll be playing.

I would say this...

Quake 1 (with thunderwalker mod) best multiplayer FPS ever
Quake 2 (best single player action of the quake series)
quake 3 (one of the best engines ever written)

Even though Quake IV is from someone other than Id directly. It's got John's engine and is based on his original series, makes it a worthy try...

BTW, IMHO I thought DooM III was entertaining!
