question about evga 8800gt

ok so my question is this on just a standard non overclocked eggs 8800 gt with 320 mb
is there really that much difference between the one with 512 mb of ram? What does the ram increase really do? Basically trying to decide if I should go with the 320 or 512 gt .

Ram matters for higher res textures (less loading into the memory = smoother FPS, not sure if its more FPS tho). I'd go for 512+ just because I like higher res textures. If you don't mind medium quality textures 320 should be fine.

As far as I know, there is no GT with 320 memory. Only a GTS. But the extra memory to 512 will only help at real high resolutions. I think anyway

All current 8800GT's (G92) have 512MB DDR3, and the older 8800GTS (G80) has either 320MB or 640MB DDR3. The 8800GT costs less, runs faster, and only takes up one slot.

sorry mispoke I know I'm cuurently hinkng about the 8800 gt 512. It is a bit pricey though . Thanks for the info about ram and textures!

The 8800GTS 320MB and the 512MB 8800GT are priced roughly the same. However your local BB may have the BFG8800GTOC for $250.00 + tax.

what's the cheapest price upu have seen on the evga 512 8800 gt. Would you recommend the evga brand or another ive kinda stuck with evga being a texas company . Ive always been happy with thier product

EVGA is based in California... Anyways, I like em too, good service, step up program is nice, and a good warranty too.
