A friend of mine and his wife ordered a Chinese knock-off of a trimmer made by Seiko (I think), you use it with talcum powder and he raved about it. Absolutely no chance of cuts or burn. It's not water resistant like this Phillips product though.

Well seeing as this thread is full of practical advice I'll just add one more tidbit.

If you're trying something new with your body, try it on a small area first for a few days and then move on from there. Just imagine if you have some kind of reaction to the shaving because you used some type of new shaving cream or something.

Buy a beard trimmer and trim it down to half and inch or so using a half inch guide.

Very easy to do. Just stand with your ass facing a full length mirror, bend over and see what you're doing by looking between your legs.

No cuts, no ingrown hairs, no rashes and no chapping... and no more looking like you have Buckwheat held between your buttcheeks.

I am not letting a blade get anywhere close to that area... *Shudders*.

A beard trimmer with a guard on it can't possibly hurt you.
