Question about Honda S2000

Does anyone know if Honda will be continuing production of the S2000 after next year? I heard from a Honda rep. at the Atlanta Auto Show that Honda will cease production because of low profit margin on the car.

Man, if that's true the S2000 is going to be one helluva collectors car in 20 or 30 years.

I sure hope they don' kill it off.

Hand-built car @ $30-35,000 or so = narrow profit margin. Plus, Honda does want to the car from depreciating too much.

Are you serious? Damn, I thought they were going to even bring a hardtop and sedan version of that car out. I saw some photos (doc'ed up ones) and they looked pretty good.

Wonder when Honda will start bring out AWD cars and using turbos =D

You know why Honda has little profit margin on this car? They priced it too low...the dealers have been marking the S2000 up by $5K-10K or even more over sticker in some cases.

Another consideration is that Honda is starting to have capacity issues in their NA plants. They don't want shortages on their bread-and-butter cars. Plus, any anouncement of a S2000 withdrawl will generate attention and potentially frantic bidding by collectors.
