I think style 2 were the lower clocked ones, but not sure. Style 1 seemed to be the most common, spanning from at least the P75 to the P166 (maybe P200). Style 3 were mostly (or all) Pentium MMX from 166MHz to 233MHz, though some Pentium MMX were style 1.

Kewl. Was there any differences in temperature between them? Were some more sought after than others?

Yep, I had a "style 2" Pentium 60 back in college, it ran my first PC! Cooled by a 3" high black anodized aluminum heatsink clipped to the top. No fan. No thermal grease. If I had to guess how hot it ran I'd say somewhere in the high 30s Celsius.

Hmm what else did it have... 16MB of EDO RAM, a 400MB hard drive (WD Caviar!), Windows 3.1, some sort of 32bit (non 3D) PCI video card by Adaptec, Soundblaster 16, 15" CRT monitor, and no CD-ROM, all for the low low price of $3199

Non-MMX Pentium originally came with the gold-lidded package, but very soon switched to the ceramic type. Later, about Pentium-166 and -200, they switched to the black plastic case w/ lid and stuck to that for the P-MMX.
