Lots of chicks on V-rods. 26" seat height and a low center of gravity makes them short person friendly.

So say I were to want to buy one new. Is sticker price what you are going to pay, or will a dealer actually haggle with you on a new bike? Say I went in with cash.

You can haggle. Also you can haggle for free accessories, gear, maintenance, etc.

Also some places have brand new bikes that are just a couple of production years old. These usually go for really good prices. Local Honda dealer here selling 2007 ST 1300's brand new for like 13 k

You better haggle. Still, I would take Zenmer's advice and buy used unless you really can't find anything.

Depending on make and model, you can save a quit a bit. Though now is not the best time of year to go bargain hunting.
I looked around, decided what I wanted then emailed the dealer with an offer. They accepted it. Was the second essayist vehicle purchase I've ever done.

Depends on the dealer and on the brand. As others have pointed out, this is not the best time of year to get a good deal on a motorcycle. I bought my Sportster in January when there was still a big pile of snow in the dealer's parking lot and got a very good deal on it because demand for bikes is low in January and they were happy to make a sale. Way back when I bought my first bike I did so in November, again because demand is low during colder months.

I really think that a good used bike is the way to go right now. A lot of people sold their bikes when the economy started to go south, and there are still a lot of solid used bikes out there that saw only one or two seasons of light use.

In the US you guys have an amazing used bike market, can't say the same for Canada. What bike are you looking into?

Coming from cruisers, these are the sport bikes to get.

The whole sv650 thing on these boards is a bit confusing. These things are beginner bikes. Yes, an experienced rider can ride them quickly, but as a touring bike, track bike, whatever, their whole appeal is their cut-rate pricing. They have nothing above 9-10k RPM, NOTHING, just noise, no power. Suspension has no rebound adjustment, only preload, budget forks, budget shocks, budget tires. These are the Honda Civics of the bike world, defended to the death by fanboys, but no matter how much money you put into the SV, you aint outrunning the 1000cc supersports. Period.

Nevermind, you're absolutely right. The SV is complete shit. If you don't ride a liter bike you're a i love you.

I have no idea what he's getting at. There's a ton of parts to trick out a SV650. I think they're a hell of a machine, and it's not hard to figure out what I ride.

I never did get this "your bike sucks" thing. If someone loves their 250, then heaven bless 'em, and in any case the SV does NOT suck.
