question on FX-51

No, because it requires registered RAM which will slow it down slightly. Also, Socket 940 boards aren't built for speed but stability as that's the Opteron's platform. The FX-51 and FX-53 were released for Socket 940 and the FX53- and FX-55 were released for Socket 939.

EDIT: It's not worth the money either. Grab a Socket 939 3200+ or 3500+ and OC the snot out of it. If you have money to burn then go for a 4000+ as they're essentially rebadged FX-53s.

I think not, its a S940 part, I think theres a slight difference with the ram, plus the Multipler has something to do with it. I have never ventured into Overclocking yet so Im not too sure.

Perhaps ppl are weary of you Intel Fanboy, hence why No one has answerd.

MDE is correct. Because of the ECC requirement, you won't get the same results (I don't even get the same results with a FX53 @ 2.6GHz in comparing that to my FX55).

ECC isn't required but registered is.

Query, though. Are they not mutually exclusive to each other? Don't think I've ever seen Registered, non ECC RAM, but I can't say that I actually went looking for it, either.

I've seen it somewhere, but yes RAM is usually Reg ECC or just "plain" RAM.
