I start my car with no problem but after it starts maybe 1- 2 seconds after, I hear a rapid clicking sound coming from the dash that lasts about 5 seconds. It also makes the clicking after I turn off the A/C. Any ideas of what it might be?

bad relay for something... open up the fuse box, and there should be a few relays, start the car and feel for which one is clicking, replace that one.

I'm going to throw out another possibility. It could be a bad ignition switch (wiring harness). Is this a 2000's key-start GM vehicle per chance or anything with a key lock cylinder that you turn?

That's it! but it does it everytime I turn on the car. I couldn't find anything on youtube myself, everytime I could find videos with a clicking on the outside of the car. You can't hear it on thee outside so they just kept frustrating me. TBH this was my last shot trying to diagnose this problem on my own, I was gonna bight the bullet and go to the mechanic since I have to ge my inspection done. Thank you

There are other videos on it....looks like a common malfunction.

The man in the video could either be Russian, Italian or something else, but his accent made it difficult for me to hear precisely the name of the part he's replacing. What kind of "Actuator" is it? I'm just curious . . .

It is the actuator that opens and closes the air vents in the dashboard according to the heat/air settings. A lot of different makes and models of cars use the same actuator part, which is absolute cheap garbage (i.e. plastic gears that continually strip out).

There are three on my 2006 Impala, and one of them seems to go out every 6 months or so like clockwork. One of them (the drivers side) is a pain to get to, while the other two (center and passenger side) are mostly accessible by removing the glove box.

Go Ford, Go Ford yourself! Sorry, couldn't resist. Its things like this that drive me crazy about companies that have been building cars for a century. They get lazy, or deliberately introduce short-life problem.

I curse GM every single time I have to dig into the bottom side of my drivers side dashboard to replace mine. It doesn't get easier to do no matter how many times I do it.

That, and the rodent-attracting soy coated wire they used. I just went out this morning and the car isn't starting, so the mice have chewed yet another wire somewhere. I ought to just wrap the entire car with that capsaicin flavored rodent tape...

An "actuator"?!! For something like that?!! You know . . . I haven't been to a dealership or even test-driven a new car for 20 years. I've ridden in recent-model vehicles, perhaps 4 years old, when a mechanic is giving me a ride home. One was a recent-model Dodge SUV, the other a Cooper-Mini. But they keep producing cars with innovations that you could expect to malfunction. I'm surprised with the trend in electric windows since maybe 30 years ago: I kept telling myself "Wait. Those things are bound to malfunction." I only learned to feel comfortable with them after buying my now 25-year-old Trooper.
