questions for building a SFF

I'm building a SFF for a GPS/Navigation system on a friends sailboat. It will be a SFF, but I'm also trying to keep power down. As such, I'm looking at SFF with nforce2 boards w/ built in video. My question is would it be a good idea to put a Athlon XP Mobile in it. Do motherboards readily support it, does PowerNow really decrease power consumption? Or would a cheap Athlon XP be just as good?

why not use one of those via (eden?) chip/boards? for what you're doing it should be enough cpu-wise, and should keep the power requirements down as well.

Via Epia MII-10000 (search!), Lilliput 7" VGA LCD touchscreen (from Ebay/DigitalWW.com/CarTFT.com), Opus 150W PSU (either 12V or 24V depending on the power system on the boat)
