Quicktime icon

All of a sudden I have a quicktime icon in my task bar. How the heck do I get rid of it. It won't delete all it does is take me to it's home page every other function is grayed out. If I try to delet it it say,s it is being used by another program and won.t deletet. I hate quicktime I installed on my old pc and it took over . I liked to never got rid of it.

probably got there when you installed itunes. get a startup manager program to remove it.

Right-click on the icon, go to Option, and disable the icon.

Along the same lines as draelon however I dont' see any point in downloading anything when MS provides a perfectly good utility that I don't have to waste bandwidth or HD space on.

Launch msconfig (Start : Run : msocnfig ) goto the startup tab and uncheck qttask.

goto Start then Run then type "msconfig" without the quotes. goto the startup tab and then uncheck the quicktime....voila, no more quicktime

I didnt download itunes I dont have quicktime on my pc all i got is the dumb icon i right on it and evey thing is grayed out except thier website. I went to start up and got rid of it.I dont know were the fvck it come from

This little ah heck snuck past my msconfig bypass a few times, so now I have a permanent solution. It does not affect the functionality of QT as far as I've seen.

1. When the QT icon is in the taskbar, look at Task Manager and find qttask.exe. Kill it.
2. Search for qttask.exe in the registry. Delete all occurances of it.
3. Search for qttask.exe. Should be in the Quicktime directory. Delete it.

There. No more pesky QT icon startup.
