Thinking about getting a Nexus NX-3500 Power Supply - Quiet 350 Watt PSU

Any experience?

No but I just got an OCZ Powerstream 520 and it is quieter than my Nexus NX-4090

Decided to go ahead and get one of these at Newegg:

SilverStone Tech. 400W Super Silent Power Supply w/ Active Power Factor Correction (PFC), Model, "SST-ST40F" -RETAIL

Had very good customer reviews and decent spec's. Also looked at a Thermaltake 420W w/ PFC, but it did not look as nice or as well built based upon pics.

I can't hear my forton at all, probably the same fan, but the fortron has a rheostat on the back to adjust the fan speed as needed.

I got two of the "dual fan ultra quiet" units, supposed to be 120mm fan units. They have a button on the back for fan speed, LOW/HIGH/AUTO. I also jumped in on the deal for $15 from Directron for the 140mm fan units. Just ordered last night and AFAIK hasn't shipped yet. The ones I've got/am getting are the plain Jane units, not the fancy mirrored ones.

I have the 120 mm 450 watt TTGI in my old case. The case is also a superflower. Quiet yes, but the rails are not exactly 12v 5v or 3.3v like some other power supplies. My 12v on a P4 3.2c is running at 11.85v, while the others are almost perfect. My OCZ on an athlon 64 3400+ has adjustable rails, and without adjustment is just above the standard voltage for each rail.


I do like the button on the back of the Directron/TTGI to switch between hi-med-lo.

Received Silverstone PS today, one day early as Fed Ex SuperSaver usually does from Newegg.
I was having problems with system not booting Technical Support thread

Hooked up new PS, haven't checked voltages, but it is one nice & quiet PS. System booted right up. Now all I can hear are the case fans and they're Vantec Stealths & Panaflo FB08A12L's.

Contrary to some of the reports, this PS has plenty of connectors. Approximately the same as the Enermax EG365P-VE PS that it replaced. I was kind of skeptacle of replacing the Enermax as it tested OK, but I guess you can't trust those PS testers. They probably test voltages at low load conditions. If it tests bad it probably is, but if it tests good it may still be bad.

It is nice to have my main system back up and running.

One question regarding the PS. It has a three pin fan connector (with 2 wires). I am pretty sure it is for PS fan speed sensing, but what will it do if I plug it into one of the mobo fan headers?

12v seems low but I am running 4 80mm case fans plus cold cathodes. Not sure if this is a problem, but everything seem to be running fine.
