Hi Guys,
I recently received a QX9650 and it is not compatible with my EVGA 680i board. I've been looking into getting a new board, I hear Gigbyte boards are stable but I have a question. What board should I get? I'd like to avoid spending the big money on DDR3 if possible. My current memory is 800MHz OCZ platinum. Can I use this or should I buy new memory? The CPU says it's rated at 133MHz FSB, does this force me to go w. DDR3? If I don't get DDR3 will I be gimping the CPU? I really don't plan on OCing. Any help is greatly appreciated. It's killing me to sit and look at this CPU in the box!
/edit *BTW - I'd like to stick w. an Intel chipset for stability reasons. I also have an LSI SAS controller that requires a PCIe 8x port. I run a 8800 GTX and don't plan to use SLI.
This is the board I'd like to get: http://www.newegg.com/product/...x?item=N82E16813128326
I'm just not sure what kind of memory to buy... and if not running DDR3 will gimp the CPU.
thanks,
