Josh, you *SHOULD* care about whether R600 is going to be a commercial success or not, because if it isn't, no-one will support it and you'll end up with a digital doorstop.
Your argument was that the performance isn't what will guarantee its success. You claimed that the R600's performance will probably be
"all that enthusiasts want it to be", so then why
wouldn't it be a success?
Some think the G80 is a step-backward in terms of IQ when compared to the G7x. But it sells because of the performance is such a great improvement.
Point is, an enthusiast shouldn't care about whether it will do good in a market because the success of a product is only the result of a user-base choosing it. An enthuseast should only consider what they intend to use it for and if it meets their expectations. I don't see a reason why an unreleased card with leaked OEM shots is any indictation of a failure. Such "guesses" are nothing but wishful thinking done by a biased fanatic. If you want to give a
good reason for why you think it will fail in the market even if the performance is what was desired, feel free to do so.
