WTF Gstandfor?

Can you please not be such a fanboy? It's very unbecoming...

You KNOW that the card in the photo is for system builders but act as if even retail will be the same...

The only thing I've heard is that the fan will be moved from the end of the board onto the board for retail versions, so the PCB will still be the same length.

Josh, you *SHOULD* care about whether R600 is going to be a commercial success or not, because if it isn't, no-one will support it and you'll end up with a digital doorstop.

Only the g70 dominated the r520 in the market place, and only because the g70 came out 5 months earlier. Had Ati released the r580 instead of r520, that domination would have made the g70 and its ghost version look like a joke. The r600 only needs a sufficiently large performance advantage to succeed.

You are trying to tell us the 79 & 76 series GPU's aren't some of the most popular and successful cards ever launched?!? Ang Gersson has the gall to call *me* a fanboy...

Here are some more if's for you - lets go jump into your Tardis and make them happen:
IF nv35 had launched instead of nv30 nvidia wouldn't have had a hard a time as they did initially against R3xx.
IF the A500 & A2000 had launched instead of the A1000, Commodore-Amiga may have gone on to own the personal computer market

Your argument was that the performance isn't what will guarantee its success. You claimed that the R600's performance will probably be "all that enthusiasts want it to be", so then why wouldn't it be a success?

Some think the G80 is a step-backward in terms of IQ when compared to the G7x. But it sells because of the performance is such a great improvement.

Point is, an enthusiast shouldn't care about whether it will do good in a market because the success of a product is only the result of a user-base choosing it. An enthuseast should only consider what they intend to use it for and if it meets their expectations. I don't see a reason why an unreleased card with leaked OEM shots is any indictation of a failure. Such "guesses" are nothing but wishful thinking done by a biased fanatic. If you want to give a good reason for why you think it will fail in the market even if the performance is what was desired, feel free to do so.
